July 18th - Half Way Done

Hi again!

Today was mostly centered around academics, but it still had a few memorable moments worth sharing.

The morning started bright and early as I headed to class ahead of schedule to meet with my group and finalize our presentation. We were delivering our startup pitch: an advanced flight simulator designed to enhance pilot training and reflex analysis. Once everything was in place, we presented it to our class, who were roleplaying as investors. I think we made a compelling case! No billion-dollar deals just yet, though. 😉

Today also marked the final session of my technical communications course with Dr. Ágota Márton of Brasenose College, Oxford. As we transition to a new communications professor for the second half of the term, I want to take a moment to express my gratitude to Dr. Márton for her thoughtful instruction. Her feedback has truly helped me sharpen and refine my communication skills.

After class, I dove into study mode for my world religions quiz, which covered Confucianism and Daoism. I tucked myself away in the gardens for a while with my book and notes for some review.

Eventually, I needed a break... and some food. Today I was feeling something with a lot of flavor, so I went to Sasi Thai, located in the Covered Market, and treated myself to a nice lunch: pad thai and garlic pork over rice. It absolutely hit the spot and gave me just the energy boost I needed.

After lunch, I went to class and took the quiz, which I think went quite well. We also had an engaging lecture on Chinese religious traditions and philosophies, which added depth to the material.

After all my classes were done, I went back to my room and slept for a little while.

In the evening, I joined the WWII film class for a showing of Inglourious Basterds. I hadn’t seen it in a while, and it had me on the edge of my seat. It was tense, dramatic, and full of surprises! We took a short intermission halfway through, and by the time the movie ended, it was late and I hadn’t eaten dinner yet. Luckily, I wasn't too far away to Itsu, where I grabbed some delicious half-price sushi (they start discounting it 30 minutes before close!).

Later that night, I hung out with Connor in the dorms, goofing around with music and winding down after a busy school day.

And that's all! Nothing too wild today, just studying, presentations, and quizzes.

See you tomorrow!
