July 25th - Preparations Part 2
Hello everyone!
Today started in classic Oxford fashion: with me waking up and rushing to class with a croissant hanging out of my mouth. Once I made it, I did several exercised involving the structuring of essays and thesis statements.
When lunchtime rolled around, I took a poke bowl from Itsu (which I’d picked up the day before) and enjoyed it in the peaceful Fellows’ Garden. Always a great reading spot, especially in good weather.
I then went to my Christianity quiz (I think I got at least a 90) and listened to the in-depth accompanying lecture.
Afterwards, I headed back to the dorm, grabbed a nap, did some laundry, and even knocked out a few squats with my roommate. Gotta balance out all the food I'm eating somehow, right?
As the evening sun settled in, I grabbed a warm unagi don from Donburi Inn and paired it with the final poke bowl from my fridge. I ate in the garden with Heather, her family, and my world religions professor, which made for some really great company. The unagi don and poke bowl were absolutely delicious, and I unfortunately forgot to take a picture of them (oops). I also had the opportunity to talk with Heather's husband, Mike, who worked in the US Foreign Service, which is a career path I'm interested in. I asked a whole bunch of questions and he was happy to answer them. Thanks, Mike!
After dinner, we shared some bottles of wine before going to a gelato place down the street called Swoon Gelato. I got a triple scoop, consisting of 85% dark chocolate, tiramisu, and raspberry cheesecake. All three were rich, smooth, and dangerously good. Honestly, I could’ve written a separate review post just for the gelato. YUM.
To wrap up the night, I finished laundry and started packing for another trip. More on that soon!Until next time—sweet dreams and even sweeter scoops 🍨
